What is a chakra?
First of all, the word "chakra", coming from the Hindu religion, means "the wheel" in Sanskrit, some even confirm that it means "the energetic wheel", the cycle and the spiral. We can even see them in the iconographic traces of civilisations former . The chakras are visually represented as 7 moving circular poles connecting the energy centres of our body to link it to the spirit. Although some people can see them, these chakras are usually invisible to the naked eye, although anyone can feel them without realising it.
It should also be borne in mind that human beings are "a vibratory being that emits a magnetic field (some call it an aura), which allows it to pick up energies in its environmentwhich arrive in the physical body via the chakras".
What are the 7 chakras?
In order to understand how a chakra functions, we must first of all take into account the movement of energy, its degrees, its strength, its influxes as well as its vital force, which all circulate in unison from our body to our mind and vice versa.
This energy flows through the 7 chakras maineach with its own properties and benefits.
1. The first chakra is the root chakra, originally named "Muladhara". It is located towards the perineum and is associated with the colour red. This chakra reminds us of life, the earth, the primary needs, the survival instinct and the security that we need to maintain in order to keep a balanced lifestyle.
2. The second chakra is the sacral chakra, from its original name, "Svadhisthana". It is located towards the uterus for women and above the bladder for men and is associated with the colour orange. This chakra unites the sexual energy, as well as the energy of creation and birth of all things. When this chakra is balanced, the energies allow for increased creativity, personal fulfilment and a fulfilling sex life.
3. The third chakra is the solar plexus chakra, originally named "Manipura". It is located below the sternum, at the level of the solar plexus and is associated with the colour yellow. This chakra deals with power, emotions and feelings, which when balanced promotes action and control over oneself, one's life, improves self-confidence and respect for others and oneself.
4. The fourth chakra is the heart chakra, originally named "Anahata". It is located towards the centre of the chest, to the left of the heart and is associated with the colour green. This chakra is the mother earth of all chakras and links the lower, more earthly chakras with the higher, more spiritual ones. It represents the energetic centre of universal and unconditional love, of love for oneself and for others. When balanced, this chakra works on inner peace, compassion, tolerance and acceptance.
5. The fifth chakra is the throat chakra, originally named "Ovishuddha". It is located in the middle of the throat and is associated with the colour blue. This chakra represents the centre of communication, of freedom of expression and thus facilitates exchanges, listening and understanding, but also diplomacy and being of good advice.
6. The sixth chakra is the third eye chakra, originally named "Ajna". It is located in the middle of the forehead, above the eyebrows and is associated with the colour indigo. This chakra is the most mysterious because it is often associated with the sixth sense, intuition and communication with the beyond. This chakra is also the representative of the intellect and universal intelligence/knowledge. When balanced, this chakra brings clear and intuitive thinking, global vision and the ability to see beyond the physical.
7. The seventh chakra is the coronal chakra, whose original name is "Sahasrara". It is located above the head, like a crown, and allows communication with the outside world, with the whole universe, and is associated with the colour violet. This chakra represents wisdom, soul consciousness, spiritual vision and helps to keep a balance and a stable connection between the mind, the body and the universe.
How to open your chakras?
Chakra practice, like any therapy, requires regular practice, willingness and a necessary and significant personal investment. In order to open the chakras, it is recommended to practice breathing exercises, meditation and even yoga to increase the flow of energy through the body.
How know if one of our chakras is blocked?
Our chakras may not be visible to the naked eye to everyone, but we can feel them. The chakras are linked to our mind, emotions and feelings and when they are too out of balance, they manifest themselves in physical and bodily symptoms. The best way to determine if one of our chakras is blocked is therefore to really take time for ourselves to sit with ourselves and listen to ourselves, and to be able to understand and respond to the messages our chakra energies are sending us.
What is the role of hypnosis in all this?
Hypnosis has an important role in rebalancing your chakras. Indeed, the majority of your blockages are linked to limiting beliefs or conditionings programmed in your unconscious and which prevent you from living your life as you wish, which can lead in particular to procrastination coming from a blockage at the level of the solar plexus chakra.
Brightly,
Basma & Leila.
